NORMAN — Bobby and Barbara Cleveland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday.

Robert Cleveland and Barbara Lemming were married Oct. 5, 1962, at Indiana Avenue Christian Church in south Oklahoma City.

Bobby first saw Barbara at one of his softball games May 1, 1962. The couple dated almost every day until their marriage.

The couple’s first home was a 300-square-foot garage apartment in south Oklahoma City. Not long after their marriage, they purchased a house.

The couple have been in sales and marketing since the early ’70s. Barbara worked for Norman Builders for many years. Later, the couple started their own business and Barbara took care of the bookkeeping. The couple have worked together for the past 40 years. At present, they own the worldwide marketing rights on an arthritis product called Sooner Relief. The couple also owns PostNet at Main Street and Berry Road.

The Clevelands are active members of Bethel Baptist Church and also attend Lexington First Baptist Church on Wednesday and Sunday nights.

Barbara is the former president of the University of Oklahoma Tip-In Club. She is a former member of the Slaughterville Board of trustees, and Bobby has been on the Slaughterville Board for the past six years, where he currently serves as the mayor of Slaughterville.
