Couple celebrates 50 years

NORMAN — Darrell and Eva (Cottrell) Ward celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7.

They were married in 1962 at Wallace Avenue Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Darrell graduated from Meeker High School in 1953 and received the outstanding athlete award his senior year. Eva graduated from Shawnee High School in 1957.

They lived in Chandler and Guthrie before moving to Norman, where they have lived for the past 34 years. Darrell retired from OG&E as supervisor of transmission line and general construction after 35 years of service. After retirement, he worked for C&H Power Line Construction and Re-Con Co. Inc. as safety director.

Eva worked for the city of Shawnee, Dr. Miles, Dr. White and retired in 1996 after 13 years as office manager for Pioneer Hearing Aid Center.

Darrell enjoys hunting, fishing and golf and Eva enjoys gardening. They both enjoy OU men’s and woman’s basketball.

They have one son, Greg Ward who lives in Norman.

The couple celebrated with family at Nonna’s in Oklahoma City.
