Barnards to celebrate 50th anniversary with a reception

NORMAN — Charles and Georgia Barnard were married on Aug. 30, 1963. A reception will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, 302 W. Comanche St.

Charles and Georgia have one son, Ricky. He and his wife, Malania, have one son, Parker. Charles and Georgia also have five stepgrandchildren: Michael, Connor, Garrett, Devin and Samantha Hammer.

Charles was drafted in the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served until 1962. He was an aerographer’s mate, second class. He went to work for McKesson Drug Company in February 1963 and retired after 30 years of service.

He was fortunate to get an after-retirement job at Arvest Bank as a parking lot attendant. He worked for 15 years and thoroughly enjoyed the employees and customers.

Charles and Georgia are members of First Baptist Church and before that, Trinity Baptist Church in Norman.

Georgia worked for various banks, the longest being City National Bank, which is now First Fidelity Bank. She worked a total of 40 years. The last job she had was at Norman Regional Hospital in patient financial services.

Charles and Georgia love to watch all University of Oklahoma sports and also love watching the Thunder basketball team.
