NORMAN — Larry and Loreen Upton, of Norman, plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary Thursday.
Larry and Loreen Burke met in 1962 in Riverside, Calif., at Merle’s Coffee Shop. They were married on June 5, 1964, at Eden Lutheran Church in Riverside.
After they were married, Larry and Loreen moved to Ft. Stewart, Ga., where they resided for two years. They moved to Tecumseh in 1967 and then moved to Norman in 1993.
Larry served in the Army for two years. He retired from Ferguson Pontiac after 25 year of being a mechanic.
Loreen retired from The Hartford Insurance Company after 10 years of working in the technical unit.
The couple attends Memorial Presbyterian Church and enjoys gardening and spending time with their granddaughters. Loreen also enjoys quilting, and Larry enjoys fishing.
The couple has two sons, Larry Jr. and his wife Lisa and Paul and his wife Karen, all of Norman.
The couple has four grandchildren, Breanna Upton, Cassandra Upton, Devyn Upton and Kierstyn Upton, all of Norman.
Their children will host a celebration with family and friends.
