NORMAN — Caroline Lanham Hawkins and Lt. Matthew Henry Bowman were married Dec. 28, 2013, at Coles Garden in Oklahoma City. Pastor Rick Anthony officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Eric and Landa Hawkins, of Norman. At the University of Oklahoma, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and served in a variety of leadership positions in the Society of Petroleum Engineers. She graduated from OU in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering. She is employed as a production engineer for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in The Woodlands, Texas.
The groom is the son of Denise Bowman, of Norman, and John and Laura Bowman, of Norman. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in kinesiology in 2011. He is stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, as a first lieutenant scout platoon leader.
Saber Bearers escorted Alyssa Curley, Kelsey Clark, Elaina Lueke, Emma Wind, Amy Harding and Lindy Green, to the candelabra on stage to place lit votive candles. Saber Bearers Lt. Thomas Allman, Lt. Martin Harris, Lt. Kevin Doland, Lt. David Markiewicz and Lt. Bruce Davis performed the Arch of Sabers before the recessional.
Music during the ceremony was performed by pianist Tom Nix. Vocalists and friends of the bride, Lindy and Danielle Green, of Oklahoma City, sang “I Won’t Give Up,” during the unity candle portion of the ceremony.
The bride wore a cream sweetheart mermaid gown, with lace overlay and crystals. The ensemble featured a crystal cream belt and two-tiered veil. The bride also wore a white fur stole to the reception.
All men and women serving in the military, including the wedding party, were encouraged to wear their Army service uniforms with beret and bowtie or branch equivalent.
The bride carried a cascading bouquet of roses, green alstroemerias, dusty miller, stock and hypericum.
