NORMAN — Jack and Pat Painter will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7.

Pat’s family moved next door to Jack’s family while the couple were in high school. They started dating a couple of months later and married six years later, after both had finished their formal educations.
Jack’s work took them to Oklahoma City in 1963, and they moved to Moore in 1965.
Jack spent his career in health administration and Pat was a Registered Nurse. Jack retired after 36 years from the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in 1996. Pat retired after 21 years at Moore Public Schools in 2001.
The couple were members of First Baptist Church of Moore for 28 years and now are members of Emmaus Baptist Church since 1993. Jack has been a deacon in the Baptist Church and a member of the American Society of Cytopathology, the Lung Association and Kiwanis. Pat is a member of the School Nurse Association of Oklahoma. The couple are members of the Union Baptist Association Mission Builders and the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief.
Jack enjoys gardening, sports, crosswords, cryptograms and Sudoku. Pat enjoys cooking, sewing, scrapbooking and reading. They both enjoy family, friends, traveling and serving as volunteers at Camp Tulakogee in Wagoner.
The couple’s children include Bruce and his wife Shonda of Bentonville, Ark., Jon and his wife Kim and Robert of Oklahoma City. They have three granddaughters, three grandsons, one grandson-in-law and one great-grandson.
The couple’s children plan to host a reception from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Emmaus Baptist Church, 16001 S. Western Ave. in Oklahoma City.
