NORMAN — Bobby and Mary Lee Gill will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 3.

They were married by the Rev. E.F. Hallock at First Baptist Church in Norman.

They both graduated from Norman High School. Bobby attended the University of Oklahoma and worked at Sooner Bowl and then as an assistant manager at TG&Y until going to work for Jack’s Service Co. of Oklahoma City. They then lived and worked in four states over the next 10 years before returning to Norman in 1972.

Bobby coached baseball and men’s and women’s softball teams at Reaves Park. He has been inducted into the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame as a commissioner, for meritorious service, and received the Oklahoma ASA Lifetime Achievement Award. He and Mary Lee have volunteered at the Women’s College World Series (Bobby for 21 years), the World Cup of Softball and the Heartland Baseball Classic.

Mary Lee was a homemaker until they returned to Norman where she worked for the Norman Public Schools for 20 years before retiring in 2000.
