Gambills celebrate 50 years together

NORMAN — Brad and Janet Gambill will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 29.

They met while attending Oklahoma State University and married in 1963.

Janet was a big city girl from Muskogee, and Brad a small town boy from Pawnee.

Brad graduated from OSU in 1964, and they moved to Norman. Brad worked on his graduate degree in city and regional planning, while Janet finished her undergraduate degree in education at the University of Oklahoma.

Brad had planning positions in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Stillwater. In addition, Brad had a military career that allowed them to live in Washington, D.C., Aberdeen, Md., and Newport, R.I.

They moved back to Norman in 1994. Brad accepted a job offer with the city of Norman while Janet directed the Middle Earth Child Development Center.

Their children include James Bradley Gambill in Siloam Springs, Ark., and Kathryn Million, who lives in Las Cruces, N.M.

They have four grandchildren, Tucker, Will, Gaige and Karson.
