NORMAN — Lonnie and Jeanetta (Bacon) Smith, of Slaughterville, met summer 1961 at Central Church of Christ while attending Vacation Bible School. The couple was married Sept. 26, 1963, at Central Church of Christ in Norman. The couple has lived in Norman, Noble, Bixby, Sapulpa and Slaughterville.
Lonnie has been employed at Abercrombie Construction and McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and is owner of Lonnie’s Body Shop. Jeanetta has been employed at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, Westinghouse and Shaklee.
They were active in the Noble school board, Noble All Sports Association, Noble Chamber of Commerce and their kids’ school activities and sports. They both enjoyed participating in bowling leagues throughout the years, and now their hobby is their grandchildren.
Their children are Nicci Hughes and husband Tom, of Noble, Scott Smith and wife Kari, of Washington, and RaeAnn Arnold and husband Lance, of Norman. They have eight grandchildren, Adam, Blake, Brayden, Logan, Ethan, Maddix, Dillon and Makenzi. The couple will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during a cruise with their children to the Cayman Islands, Cozumel and Jamaica.
