NORMAN — Junior League of Norman, together with the Baby Steps staff, will host its annual Baby Steps back to school night from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Baby Steps House, 941 Nebraska St.

The event welcomes participating teen moms and their babies to come introduce themselves to the staff and familiarize themselves with the Baby Steps program and facility.

Baby Steps welcomes a new teacher this year, Angela Johnson, who has a degree in counseling and is a teen parenting specialist.

The goal of Baby Steps is to help teen parents complete their high school education so they can reach their goals and become citizens and effective, nurturing parents.

Baby Steps is a coalition between the Junior League of Norman, Crossroads Youth and Family Services, Norman Public Schools and the Center for Children and Families.

Baby Step was established in 1993. In the last 19 years, 136 pregnant and parenting teens have graduated high school due to their involvement with the Baby Steps program.

Baby Steps is a free and accessible Early Head Start program for babies and toddlers of teen parents and their families.
