NORMAN — The Norman Park Foundation announces a substantial increase to $3000 in cash prizes for the 8th annual Oklahoma Tree Photo Contest this fall. First prize $500, second prize $175, and third prize $125 in four categories will be awarded for the best, most artistic professional and amateur black and white and color photographs of Oklahoma trees.

“We are pleased to announce this increase as the contest continues to grow and attract the best professional and amateur photographers in the metro area and beyond,” said Joe Sparks, Foundation Board member.

This contest celebrates photographic creativity with the subject of trees and what trees do for us in providing shade, reducing stormwater runoff, creating habitats for birds and other small animals, increasing property values, and beautifying the environment.

Contest applications are available at normanparkfoundation.com. Applications will be mailed to 2011 contestants.

The deadline for entry in the juried show is Nov. 5 and framed photographs to contest specifications will be accepted at Legend’s Times Two, 1333 W.Lindsey Street. The juried exhibit at First Fidelity Bank will run from Nov. 12 through Dec. 14, with prizes presented at the reception from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. Call Joe Sparks with questions at 364-7152.
