Barry Switzer’s painting to be auctioned at fundraiser

NORMAN — In an effort to raise funds for a local family in need, Tiffany Bohrer with The Tipsy Artist, wine and paint parties, is auctioning off a Barry Switzer painting Monday.

The former University of Oklahoma football coach painted the 16x20 painting called “Touchdown,” showing one of his famous triple-option plays, during a Tipsy Artist class Aug. 27. The funds raised from the painting will assist Norman resident James Ray.

A motorcycle accident a year ago left Ray paralyzed from the chest down. And recently, a wildfire took Ray’s home and possessions, including all of his medical equipment.

Bohrer said she hopes the funds raised from the event will provide Ray and his family some immediate relief.

The auction will be 6 p.m. Monday at Othello’s, 434 Buchanan Ave. Switzer will be present during the auction. Bids can be made online at www.ebay.com or in person at the event.

A paint party will take place at the same time. Paint party tickets are $45 per person, with 50 percent of ticket proceeds going toward the fundraiser. Tickets may be purchased at www.tipsyartist.com. Paint party tickets are not required to bid on Switzer’s original painting.

Donations can also be made online at www.giveforward.com/JamesRay.
