NORMAN — Happy first birthday, N-town!
When we launched N-town a year ago we had visions of capturing a glimpse into the “City of Festivals,” an ever-expanding, ever-creative art community.
Since then we have provided coverage on Norman’s favorite annual events, like the Mardi Gras parade, Chocolate Festival, Medieval Fair, Norman Music Festival, Summer Breeze Concert Series, Jazz in June, Midsummer Nights’ Fair, Cleveland County Free Fair, Winter Wind Concert Series, 2nd Friday Circuit of Art and so much more. Not to mention the many separate events hosted by our plethora of arts organizations, and public art funded by private donors and the city’s Public Arts Board.
And — to no surprise to Norman’s art lovers — the scene has continued to expand this last year with newly introduced events like the Downtown Norman Fall Fest and the much-anticipated Toby Keith’s Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert.
But perhaps the best part: As rich as Norman’s arts and entertainment scene currently is — you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. The city’s movers and shakers still see ample room to grow. This month alone sees two new arts initiatives with StART Norman (read the story on page 11) and the Festival of the Four Winds (read the story on page 4.) Just around the corner in the fall, Norman is hosting the Oklahoma Arts Council’s annual Oklahoma Arts Conference — an opportunity to show off everything our city has to offer.
Hold on to the edge of your seats: Who knows what this next year will bring?
