NORMAN — There’s no way around it: A cast of 70 third to seventh grade students performing in a musical is like herding cats. Especially when that’s exactly what they’re acting to be.
The Sooner Theatre’s upcoming production of “Cats” brings all the glitz and glam of the Broadway production, including full costumes, choreography and music. The bonus, director Melany Pattison said, is this group of actors are “stinkin’ cute.”
“Obviously you come, you always come to the theater for an escape, but ultimately I want my audience this year to be blown away by the kids,” Pattison said. “Obviously it’s for enjoyment but I want them to be just blown away about how these kids can undertake such difficult music. And have fun and be excited about it.”
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and 25 and 2 p.m. Jan. 25 and 26.
Tickets, $10, can be purchased online at soonertheatre.com, by phone at 405-321-9600 or in person at the theater box office, 10 a.m. to noon and 2-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, as well as one hour prior to show time.
