NORMAN — Alice Cecil Engelbrecht, D. Ph., 60, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013. Alice, an established resident of Norman was born Oct. 21, 1952, in Hobbs, N.M. to Roy and Floriene Bridges Cecil.
Alice was a 1970 graduate of Norman High School. Alice also graduated from Northeastern University in 1980 and later from the University of Oklahoma with her Pharm. D. in 2005. Alice married a college classmate, Frederick Engelbrecht of Pequannock, N.J. in 1974.
Alice had worked for over 30 years as a clinical pharmacist and was a former president of the Cleveland County Pharmacists Association.
Alice treasured her work as a pharmacy specialist in poison information at the Oklahoma Poison Control Center and spent the last 13 years as the pharmacy clinical coordinator at OU Medical Center.
Alice enjoyed genealogy, sewing projects, reading, vacationing in Alaska, and rescuing stray animals. She was always very outgoing and kind, enjoying the company of her friends and colleagues.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick, of over 39 years; her daughters, Cynthia Engelbrecht of Norman and Christine Engelbrecht of Edmond; her son-in-law, Justin Kersey of Norman; her brother, Joe Cecil and his wife Judith Friedman of Washington D.C.; her brother James Cecil and his wife Diana of Norman; her nephew, Andrew Cecil of Washington D.C.; and two grandchildren: Julia Engelbrecht-Kersey and Clarissa Engelbrecht-Kersey of Norman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Cecil and Floriene Bridges Cecil, and a nephew, Benjamin Cecil.
In accordance with Alice’s wishes, a celebration of life gathering will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the restaurant Legends Times Two, located at 1333 West Lindsey Street in Norman.
