Rosalie A. (Spirik) Ghelarducci

NORMAN — Rosalie A. (Spirik) Ghelarducci was born April 27, 1925, to Otto T. and Rosalia M. (O’Hanlon) Spirik of Carnegie, Pa. Rosalie passed away quietly on the morning of Sunday, July 11, 2013. The last of seven siblings, she was proceeded in death by her brothers and sisters James, Thomas, Luke Spirik and Margaret Kleer, Theresa Poremba and Catherine Vandervort.

In 1943, she graduated from St. Luke’s Catholic High School in Carnegie, Pa. She started working as a clerk in Stuzka’s Hardware Store at the early age of 14. While raising her two children, she began her career as a seamstress at Harris’ Working Men’s Store in Carnegie, Pa. When the opportunity presented itself, she became a seamstress/stock-room clerk for J.C. Penney & Co. in Bridgeville, Pa. In the early ’80s, she transferred to J.C. Penney & Co. in Norman, continuing her career until her retirement.

She enjoyed crocheting afghans and shawls for her family and friends, along with making clothes for herself and family, and many other crafts and hobbies. She followed the philosophy that whoever has the most yarn when they die wins. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, bowling and St. Joseph’s Women’ Club activities.

She is survived by her son, Robert Karl Ghelarducci and wife Carolyn of Norman; and her daughter, Karen E. Ghelarducci-Conway and husband Paul of Atoka, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Kristin M. (Ghelarducci) Hollingsworth and husband Tom, Kimberly A. Ghelarducci, Colleen E. Ghelarducci, Averill R. Conway, Paul J. (Trey) Conway III and wife Donna and Blaise Conway and wife Nicole of Atoka, Tenn.; great-grandchildren Alexander, Charlotte and Xavier Hollingsworth, Pace and Eden Conway, Noah Conway, Shelby and Cullan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Filled with compassion and interest in others, Rosalie will surely be remembered by her family and friends with love, tears and smiles of her words and ways.
