Louis Howard

NORMAN — Louis Howard, 65, longtime resident of Norman, was called home by our Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2013, in Norman. He was born April 18, 1947, at his grandmother’s home in Elbowoods, N.D., to Franklin and Pearl (Felix) Howard.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Havenbrook Funeral Home chapel, 3401 Havenbrook St. in Norman. Burial will conclude at the Warren Cemetery in Norman.

Louis graduated from Whiteshield High School in Whiteshield, N.D., and San Francisco State University. He was united in marriage to Candace Boone on Nov. 1, 1980, in Reno, Nev.

Louis was a member of Journey Church and the small group Attic Treasurer Seekers and enjoyed serving as an usher. He was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters SFO. Louis was employed by the United Airlines from the early 1970s to present. He served in various sheet metal areas, most recently in the Airbus C-Check Dock as a lead sheet metal technician. Louis was to retire this April, after more than 40 years of service.

Louis was first and foremost a loving husband and a beloved father and grandfather. Caring for his family was important to Louis. He adored his daughter, Dana, and his beloved grandchildren, Robert, Meredith and Caroline, who Louis called “Scout,” and they will miss him deeply.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Oscar Howard and Frank Howard of Garrison, N.D.

Survivors include his wife, Candace Howard of 32 years; daughter, Dana Davis and her husband Robert of Norman; three grandchildren, Robert, Meredith and Caroline of Norman; four brothers, Sidney Howard, Wade Howard, Dana Howard and Olin Howard of Garrison, N.D.; two sisters, Yvonne (Howard) Fox and Anita Howard of Whiteshield, N.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews and additional family and many friends.

The Howard family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses and the many other staff members at the Norman Regional Intensive Care Unit for their professionalism and tireless care given to Louis for the time he was in their care.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Arrangements for Louis and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
