NORMAN — Florene Hodam, 89, of Norman, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Services for will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Primrose chapel with Rev. Brent Hardesty officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Florene was born Sept. 18, 1923, to William Lee and Mary Anna (Glover) Teague in Noble. She graduated from Noble High School in 1942 and married Winford Cordell Hodam in 1943 in Bethany.
A longtime member of Norman Community Church of the Nazarene, formerly known as First Church of the Nazarene, Florene taught Sunday School and was a charter member of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Norman. During World War II, she worked at Gilt Edge Dairy. Florene was employed more than 20 years at TG & Y in Norman and retired in 1981. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking for her loved ones. She was also well known for her delicious pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Winford Hodam; brothers Robert Teague and Luther Teague; and sisters Josephine Ketner, Ruby Teague, twin sister Lorene King, Ivette King and Willie Mae Argo.
Mrs. Hodam is survived by her children Linda (Marvin) Ledyard of Fort Worth, Texas, Curtis (Debi) Hodam of Tucson, Ariz., and Carol (Bill) Castillo of Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren Lisa (Alex) Rice of California, Md.; Lori (Jeff) Wahlgren of Fort Worth, Texas, Grant (Lindsay) Ledyard of Austin, Texas, Chris Hodam of Cheonan, South Korea, Cory (Whitney) Hodam of Tucson, Ariz., Cashion Hodam of Tucson, Ariz., Chad Castillo and Drew Castillo, both of Lexington, Ky.; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Ivan Childers of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Florene left a wonderful Christian legacy as a prayer warrior and humble servant for her family and friends. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed. In loving final tribute, her grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.
