NORMAN — James Norris White, 84, of Norman, passed from this life Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Norman Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Primrose Funeral Service in Norman. Burial will be at IOOF cemetery in Norman. Pastor Kenneth Huddleston of Immanuel Baptist Church will officiate.
He was born May 3, 1928, to Bill and Iva White in Norman. He was a life-long resident of Norman and attended Norman public schools. He and Faye Moody were united in marriage in 1949. He worked as a building contractor and home builder for the city of Norman and retired from the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation after 18 years as a building maintenance foreman.
He enjoyed building houses, telling stories, his family reunions, music, dancing and especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching old TV westerns and movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters, Wanda Jean Woods and Bobbi McMurtry.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol O’Bryant of Norman; son, Jimmy White of Norman; daughter, Janie Collett of Olive Branch, Miss.; four brothers, Harold White, Bruce White and Al White, all of Oklahoma City, and Richard White of Norman; three sisters, Pat Hughes of Lawton, Judy Franks and Karen Larimore of Norman; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
