NORMAN — Lottie Faye (Rowe) Swopes was born Oct. 20, 1926, at Centrahoma to Mick and Jewell (Adkins) Rowe. She departed this life Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the Noble Health Care Center at the age of 87.
Mrs. Swopes attended school at Durham. She and Mr. Thomas Swopes were united in marriage on Nov. 18, 1944, at Reydon. They were married for 66 years before he preceded her in death. They made their home in Norman before moving to Noble in 1978. She was employed with the Cheyenne Nursing Home and Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Norman before her retirement. She enjoyed cross stitching and crotcheting. She made afghans for her entire family, the senior citizen center and the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Twila Gray; and two brothers.
Those who survive her include four sons, Jerry, Leon, Donald and Wayne Swopes; two daughters, Dois Anderson and Nila Barlow; two sisters, Helen Gibson and Dois Harbeson; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren with another on the way.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McMahans Funeral chapel. Interment will be at Banner Cemetery.
Arrangements are directed by McMahans Funeral Home in Noble.
