He lived in the Westville area until he was 16, then his family moved to Wichita, Kan., where he graduated from Wichita North High School. Frank was the fifth child of a family of 10 children, including one brother and eight sisters. He loved his large family. Frank and a cousin organized his mother’s family reunion more than 20 years ago, and they are still meeting today.
Frank met Carolyn Anderson at Olivet Baptist Church in Wichita, Kan., in 1961. Their first date was Feb. 11, 1961, to the church Sweetheart Banquet on Feb. 11, 1961. They were married March 17, 1962, at Olivet Baptist Church.
Frank made a profession of faith at age 5 in a Sunbeams class. He was raised attending church and was given the opportunity to speak at various functions at a young age. He taught several classes for young boys, men and young married couples. Frank was ordained as a Southern Baptist deacon in 1971 at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in Dodge City, Kan., where he served as Sunday School director. While living in Wichita, he served as commissioner for sports for the Sedgwick County Southern Baptist Churches. He has also served as chairman of the deacons, served on the committee for committees for the Southern Baptist Convention and headed a church building campaign.
Frank’s priorities in life consisted of God, family, church, softball, the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees. He loved to laugh. Frank enjoyed telling long and involved stories that had funny endings as well as playing softball and basketball. Frank coached Jon’s baseball and softball teams. He also enjoyed music. He did not have a good singing voice, but he sang to his children and never missed Cindy and Jon’s singing performances and piano recitals.
