NORMAN — Karen (Plantz) Lowery, 58, of Lexington and formally of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in Midwest City.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Victor Cope and pastor Wesley Creech officiating. Burial will follow at Plantz Family Cemetery on New Hope Road by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Visitation will be from1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Cooper Funeral Home, with the family gathering from 4 to 6 p.m. to meet with friends.
Karen was born Nov. 17, 1953, in Shawnee.
Karen was raised in the Shawnee area and was a 1972 graduate of Bethel High School. She was a lifelong resident of Pottawatomie County before moving to Lexington in 2002.Karen has been married to James “J.J.” Jackson for the past 10 years.
She owned and operated U-Save Exterminators, did bookkeeping for many businesses in Shawnee and was a therapeutic foster parent.
Karen loved taking care of her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed her horses, dogs, her John Deere tractors, listening to music and raising foster children. Karen was known to out pinch anyone with her toes and was always there to lend a helping hand for those in need.
She was preceded in death by her two sets of parents, Clovis Earl and Betty Plantz and Gordon Sr. and Shirley Tibbs; son, Wesley Lowery; brother, Jimmy Plantz; two nephews, Christopher Plantz and Donnie Vickery Jr.; and many other family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, James “J.J.” Jackson, of the home; two daughters, Chrisee Jackson and Meggan Manuszak, of the home; three sons, Carl Jackson, of the home, Johnny and Jennifer Lowery of Tecumseh and Mike Petray, of Tecumseh; grandsons, Jimmy Lowery and Bryan Lowery of Lexington; granddaughter, Heather Lowery of Tecumseh; twin sister, Sharon and Dennis Cotton and sister, Nancy and Jack Sliger of Tecumseh; three brothers, Clovis Plantz and daughter, Loni of Tecumseh, Gordon Jr. and Denise Tibbs of San Angelo, Texas, and Richard Tibbs of Shawnee; her children's father, Elvin Lowery, of Norman; lifelong friend, Delvita Griggs of Pomona, Calif.; and numerous extended family, friends and loved ones.
