NORMAN — Bobby Lynn Carr, 66, passed Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, to rest in the arms of his Heavenly Father. His death occurred after his eight-year battle with an extended illness.

The eighth of 10 children, Bobby was born Nov. 17, 1947, in Lexington to Andrew and Elizabeth (Bennett) Carr. In 1969, he married his sweetheart, Alice Coughran, who he remained devoted to each and every day of his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, for which he received two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. After returning home, he began earning his college education and received his associate’s degree in business. Bobby worked diligently for Sysco Foods for 25 years before retiring.

He was extremely passionate about many things, including OU football, Thunder basketball and Wii Golf, but the passion he had for his wife and family was far greater than anything else.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters.

Survivors to cherish his life are his wife, Alice; children Steve, Shelly and Roger; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at the Alameda Church of Christ in Norman. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
