NORMAN — Frank Milton Auwen was born to John Johnson and Julia Adeline (Smith) Auwen on Oct. 17, 1932, in Noble. He departed this life Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 81.
Mr. Auwen grew up and attended school in Noble. On May 26, 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. With more than 20 years of service, he retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of sergeant on Aug. 31, 1973.
On June 3, 1964, he and Adele Hensley were united in marriage in Norman. They made their home in Noble soon after his retirement, where he resided until his death.
He was a longtime member of the Noble United Methodist Church. He loved to visit, whether it be at the local coffee shop, church or the Noble Senior Citizens Center, where he played dominos. He was often seen walking around town regularly getting his exercise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Those who survive him include his wife, Adele; his son, Tim Auwen; one brother, Alton (Anna) Auwen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Noble United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Noble IOOF Cemetery.
At the family’s request, a viewing will not be held.
