Lexie Lois Martin Hopkins

NORMAN — Lexie Lois Martin Hopkins, a resident of Peoria, Ariz., was born on July 16, 1929, in Haworth. She passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, 2013, with loved ones by her side.

She was laid to rest Dec. 17, 2013, in Idabel. Services were conducted by her family at the Norwood-Nation chapel. Lexie was born and raised in Haworth to Jett and Lois Martin. She graduated from Haworth High School and attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. Lexie had four wonderful children and she was an executive secretary for the State Board of Governors of Licensed Architects of the State of Oklahoma.

She was the youngest of seven children who preceded her in death, as well as her parents, Jett and Lois.

Lexie was the beloved wife of Harold C. Hopkins Sr., formerly of Idabel, for 66 years, and will forever be loved and remembered by him and her devoted children, Harold C. Hopkins Jr., Cindy Hopkins Cerne, Tommy Hopkins and April Hopkins Bowers; her grandchildren, Marcus, Trey, Justin, Molly, Bailey, Taylor, Madison, Casey and Brady; five great-grandchildren; and her daughters-in-law, Carey Hopkins and Sharon Hopkins; and sons-in-law, Victor Cerne and Brett Bowers. There are also countless friends and family who were truly blessed to know her.

Lexie was a loving wife, mother and “Granny.” She was an accomplished seamstress who, with loving care, made countless outfits for all of her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid reader, loved to garden and spent much of her time bird watching.

She truly loved her grandchildren with her whole heart and was intent on making her home a warm and fun place for them to play with one another. They spent many summers swimming in her pool, waiting for her to bring out peaches and chocolate chip cookies, playing dominoes on the big game table and learning how to make her yummy oatmeal raisin cookies. Her love for her family will be carried in their hearts forever.
