NORMAN — Marjorie Jeanne Bassett died in Norman on Jan. 25, 2014, after a sudden illness. She was 89 years old. The daughter of Frances and Howard Douglas, she was born June 9, 1924, in Joplin, Mo. She attended Enid schools and The University of Oklahoma. She worked as an accountant in her earlier years.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Sam Wood.
Mrs. Bassett is survived by her daughter, Traci Soesbee and her husband James Soesbee; her son, Harold F. Bassett Jr.; her very good friend, Harold Bassett Sr.; one grandson, Cody Cooper; four granddaughters, Christina Cooper, Calli Cooper, Maggie Bassett and Amber Bassett; and two great-granddaughters, Mya and Makinslee Madu.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rambling Oaks Assisted Living Center, Dr. Jonathon Bryan and Dr. Archana Gautum for their years of caring for Marjorie Bassett.
A private memorial service for the immediate family will be hosted at a later date at St. Johns Episcopal Church Columbarium.
