Joe Wyman Jones

NORMAN — Services for Joe Wyman Jones, 68, of Wayne, will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Wayne United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dylan Cole will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Jones died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Purcell Hospital. He was born April 24, 1945, in Oklahoma City to Charles Wyman and Weeta Jo Taylor Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from Wayne High School.

He married Nancy Lee Baggett on June 4, 1966. He later married her again on April 16, 1994 in Wayne. Mr. Jones was the owner and operator of a construction company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wayne and had served in the U.S. Army with the 5th Special Forces in Vietnam from 1964-1965. Mr. Jones also had coached youth sports in Oklahoma City and California.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jones, of the home; two sons, Jay Jones and wife Tava of Norman and Charles Jones and wife Tiffiney of Moore; a daughter, Amy Jo Beck and husband Lynn of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Rick Jones of Washington, Okla. and Charles Jones of Crescent City, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Mallory Jones, Hunter Jones, Chaning Jones, Conner Jones and Payton Lindsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bearers will be Hunter Jones, Steven Jones, Larry Woods, Tim Baggett, Trent Baggett and Lynn Beck. Honorary bearers will be Conner Jones, Eduardo Espinosa and all his former players.
