NORMAN — Matt Timothy Schaer passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, in his sleep. Matt was born Dec. 20, 1954, onboard the U.S. Naval Station in Lakehurst, Trenton County, N.J., to Oscar and Billie Jean Schaer.

Matt was a senior account executive at Clear Channel Radio and Entertainment for 25 years. He was the winner of the President’s Club several times and the prestigious Pinnacle Club. He made many friends and developed loyal clients during his career who will miss his large personality, jokes and numerous stories. He had no equal in his profession and no genuine adversaries — just friendly competitors to whom he mailed Christmas cards every year. Matt’s mother, Billie Jean (George) Schaer, preceded his passing.

Matt is survived by his wife of 30 years, Deborah, his daughters Simone and Sydney and his son Slater of the home; his father, U.S.N. Retired Commander Oscar Schaer of Corpus Christi, Texas; his brothers Mike, Mark and Mel of California; his nephews, Shawn, Marcus, James and Stephen; and niece, Lauren Schaer.

A memorial celebrating Matt’s life will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman.

Donations remembering Matt may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital/Medical Research, in lieu of flowers.
