NORMAN — Vina Pearl Strain, of Norman, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the age of 91. She was born July 25, 1921, in Bixby to Leonard P. and Willia (Smith) Vaughan.
She was raised in the Seminole and Earlsboro area and attended school at Prairie View High School. Her father owned a store during her childhood, which she told many stories about.
She retired from Tinker AFB, and she and her husband were very active in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. They served as officers, as well as publishing a newsletter for the group.
She was a very active member of the Goodrich Memorial Methodist Church in Norman for many years. She was very well liked, friendly and made many friends, as well as doing many things for her only son.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh C. Strain; and all of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Hugh Milton Strain; her granddaughters, Lori Ann Morrow and Josette Demetria Schmer; her great-grandson, A. C. Schmer and numerous other relatives and friends.
