Kenneth Dale Buckley

NORMAN — Kenneth Dale Buckley, lifelong Beggs resident, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, at his daughter’s home in Norman. He was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Beggs, to the late Oscar E. and Golden Marie (Moore) Buckley.

Kenneth served his county in the United State military and retired as a procurement officer with the Army Corps of Engineers. He married his wife of 63 years, Wanda Potts on May 25, 1946. He was a faithful member of the Beggs United Methodist Church and served two terms as mayor of Beggs. Kenneth was a member of the Beggs Masonic Lodge No. 319, a Knight of the York Cross of Honour, Knight Templar Priests and The Red Cross of Constantine.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother Oscar Ray Buckley; and sisters June Hubbell and Jean Parker.

Survivors include his daughter, Nita Buckley Cochran and husband Jim of Norman; sons Derald L. Buckley and wife Carlene of Sapulpa and Alan D. Buckley and wife Cathy of Newbury Park, Calif.; a sister Juanita Knauf of Santa Fe, N.M.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Beggs with the Rev. Rich Brasher officiating and assisted by Kenneth’s grandchildren, Kenneth “K.C.” Culbert and Cara Buckley Moss. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Gary Davis, Bobby Barnett, Elwood Isaacs, Jerry Hammond, Jon Giddings and Billy Paul Anderson.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.
