NORMAN — Barbara Ann Fuller (Mackey) left this world on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Norman. She was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Shamrock, Texas, to Curtis Fuller and Faye (Prescott) Fuller.
Her early years were spent in Texas and California before settling in Oklahoma City. There she worked at Katz Drugstore where she met her future husband Richard Mackey and raised their daughter Susan. In 1978, she moved to Norman and attended some college at the University of Oklahoma. After several years managing apartments, she worked in Norman Public Schools until her retirement in 2003.
Barbara loved all living things, especially children and baby animals. Those who knew her will remember her infectious smile, sense of humor and vivacious personality. She was a marvelous storyteller, entertaining friends and family alike with her many stories.
Barbara’s greatest passion was helping others, having touched countless people’s lives from students to friends, family and neighbors. Even though she was allergic to cats, she loved them and was even known to feed all of the stray cats in her apartment community daily.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlene Fuller; and grandson, Shawn Lett.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Lett and son-in-law Jim Lett of Oklahoma City; two granddaughters, Lacey Lett and Amara Lett; sister Peggy Kirkham; two nieces, Patsy McCandless and Pam Kirkham; her friends and neighbors at Savannah House; and her many friends of Bill W.
