NORMAN — Velinda Gonzalez, 30, of Norman, died Sunday, April 7, 2013. Velinda was born June 16, 1982, in Lawton.

A memorial service in her honor will be 10 a.m. Friday at Havenbrook Funeral Home chapel in Norman.

She loved music — from gospel to R&B, she loved it all. Her sense of style and beauty was all her own. Though she could often be seen with a different hair or makeup trend, her inner beauty was never changed or altered.

She made many friends from many different places because of her diverse interests and kind heart. She adored her “Wienie dogs” and always seized the opportunity to watch movies and eat at her favorite restaurant, Greek House in Norman.

Velinda was truly one of a kind with a compassionate heart that was touched by everyone she met. She changed so many lives during her short time with us. Her beautiful, radiant smile and carefree spirit will be greatly missed. Velinda was truly an Angel here on earth, as she will be in heaven.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha C. Gonzalez on Aug. 27, 2009; and her sister, Lollie Gonzalez on Nov. 4, 2011.

Velinda is survived by her father, Jose Gonzalez and his wife, Pamela Rogers; brothers Jose Gonzalez Jr. of Norman, Leon Gonzalez and his wife Sandra of Davies, Fla., and Francisco Gonzalez of Norman; sisters Josie Fentriss and her husband Ford and Taneesha Freeman of Alabama; nieces and nephews Cayman, and Kyla Fentriss of Norman, Brandon, Monica, Rebecca and Isabella Gonzalez of Davies, Fla., and Destiny Gonzalez of Yukon; great-niece, Brianna Cook of Yukon; and stepbrothers Derek Nickens and “Trey” Ronald Barnes of Norman.

Arrangements for Velinda and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.

Online condolences may be shared at www.havenbrookfuneralhome.com.
