NORMAN — James H. Moore, 66, of Norman, passed from this life Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013. James was born to John and Betty Jo Moore on Oct. 6, 1946, in Norman.
James graduated from Norman High School in 1964. James then joined the Navy, where he had the honor of serving on the U.S.S. Enterprise, the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, James moved to Tampa, Fla., where he joined the family business, Moore’s Pipeline. Later, James went on to become a C.N.A. and returned to Norman, where he went to work for Norman Regional Hospital. James worked on PCU for 16 years before he retired in 2008.
James spent his retirement fishing and playing poker. He remained true to his greatest passion of writing songs and strumming his guitar. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed by all of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Jo Moore; his brother, Joe Moore; and his brother-in-law, Roger Waller.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrye of 36 years; children Shelley and husband Randy Ivey of Kernersville, N.C., Rebecca and husband Jason Bingman of Norman and Josh and wife Kimberly Moore of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Shawney, Brandon, Paige, Braedon, Gavin, Bailey and Brycen; uncle and aunt, Kenneth and Shirley Miller of Norman; sisters-in-law Sandy Davis of Norman and Madella White of Sullivan, Mo.; and brother-in-law, Bill Waller of Davis; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Friday at McMahan’s Funeral Home in Noble.
