George Evans Rockenfield Sr.

NORMAN — George Evans Rockenfield Sr. was born to George H. and Bertha A. (Evans) Rockenfield on Nov. 20, 1920, in Taylor Springs, N.M. He departed this life Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the age of 92 years.

George moved to the Cleveland County area in 1963, coming from San Diego. He was a member of the Church of Christ. On April 23, 1953, he and Alice Auwen were united in marriage in Norman. On Oct. 28, 1941, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served his country until he was honorably discharged on July 10, 1963. He enjoyed fishing and reading and was an avid word puzzle solver.

Mr. Rockenfield was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice in 1983; brother, Warren Rockenfield; and sister, Elenor Burns.

He is survived by son, George Rockenfield Jr. and wife Katherine of Tuttle; daughter, Martha Finley and husband Larry of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, George E. Rockenfield III and wife Heather, Susan Michelle Finley, Jason Finley and Kathryn Allison Finley; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at McMahans Funeral Home in Noble, with Mr. Harry Osborne officiating.

Interment will be at Noble IOOF Cemetery in Noble.

Services are directed by McMahans Funeral Home in Noble.
