NORMAN — Robert Isherwood Loeffler, 82, of Phoenix, Ariz. died April 16, 2013. Mr. Loeffler was born Nov. 18, 1930, to Frank and Mary Loeffler in Oklahoma City.
He attended Kemper Military School and graduated from Classen High School in 1949. He earned B.S. degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Varsity Wrestling Team. Later he earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, also from OU.
Loeffler served in the U. S. Air Force as a pilot and in the Reserves. He retired in 1990, having achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel. He also served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
Loeffler spent his professional life as an engineer. He belonged to the Phoenix Model Airplane Club and devoted his retirement years to building and flying model airplanes.
He is survived by two children, Kevin Loeffler of Newport Beach, Calif., and Kristin Loeffler of Newton Mass.; two grandchildren; former wife Ruth Loeffler of Norman; and many nieces and nephews.
