Walter Kincaid “Kin” Caudill Jr.

NORMAN — Walter Kincaid “Kin” Caudill Jr., 66, died after a long illness in Byron Bay, Australia with family by his side on April 16, 2013. He was born on Sept. 13, 1946 to Gayle and Walter Kincaid Caudill Sr. in Pauls Valley while living in Maysville.

He attended Maysville and Norman schools until his junior year in high school. Then, following his dad’s footsteps, he finished high school and two years of college at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo. He then attended OU. As an Army captain, he flew helicopters in Vietnam in 1969 for a tour of duty and returned with a Silver Star, Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals.

Kin was witty, confident, adventurous, an excellent helicopter and wing pilot and a computer geek, but will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather.

He married Joyce Fagan in Byron Bay, Australia, in 1971 and had two daughters whom he adored. They traveled southeast Asia and lived in Singapore for several years. He worked for Bell Helicopter and Helicopter Aviation Services as a pilot and marketing manager.

Kin was predeceased by his parents, Walter Kincaid Caudill Sr. and Gayle Ritchey Caudill; grandparents, aunts, uncles and nephew, Shaun Swank.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Jennifer Caudill of Mansfield, Texas and Amanda Caudill (Geraldo); grandson, Michael of Roanoke, Texas; siblings, Marcia Caudill Swank Parduhn Burlie (Larry) of Wichita, Kan., Dorothy Kay Caudill Ludwick Dacy and Laura Caudill Juve Southard (Fred) of Austin, Texas; nieces and nephews, Terri Ludwick Scott and son, Zachary, Lee Ann Ludwick Jones (Noble) of Austin, Texas, Monty Swank and Sam Parduhn and daughter, Sierrah of Wichita, Kan., Matt Dacy and daughter Katelyn, Jonathan Dacy (Melissa) and children, Reagan and Logan, Patrick Juve (Aubrie), all of Austin, Texas and Peter Juve of Laredo, Texas; cousins, Harvey Harmon (Karlie), Donna Harmon both of Oklahoma City and Bill Harmon of Tulsa.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at IOOF Cemetery in Norman.

The Rev. Sylvia Shirley of Oklahoma City will officiate.
