Marian Smith Thompson

NORMAN — Marian Smith Thompson passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, after a short illness.

She was born in Norman on Oct. 30, 1934, to R.O. and Verna Mae Smith. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and Norman High.

She married Pat Thompson in 1952, and together they raised a family in northeast Norman. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. Her hobbies included playing bridge, bowling and oil painting. She was an excellent cook and an avid golfer.

In 1979, along with Pat and son Mike, they opened Thompson Pool and Patio. She worked in the business until 1987 when she retired.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents and husband Pat.

Survivors include her sister, Virginia (Jimmy) Hobaugh of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; a brother, Robert O. (Carolyn) Smith of Norman; her children Debbie (Rick) Miller, Sue (Bruce) Snyder, Mike (Sharon) Thompson and Laura (Mike) McLaughlin, all of Norman; grandchildren Suanne (Patrick) Livingston, Zac Miller, Clay Miller, David Snyder, John Snyder, Kristine (Jason) Richardson, Brian McLaughlin and Michelle McLaughlin, all of Norman; great-grandchildren Hannah, Lizzie and Jack Livingston, Nicole, Morgan and Landon Miller and Cooper Richardson, all of Norman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Josephs Catholic Church located at 211 N. Porter Ave.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Norman Regional Hospital Foundation, 901 N. Porter Ave., Norman, OK 73071.
