NORMAN — Dr. Allison C. Howe-McNeil, 53, of Norman, passed away from an illness Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was born Sept. 14, 1960, in Neptune, N.J., to Alfred and Lorraine Taylor Howe.

Dr. Howe-McNeil grew up in Wall Township, N.J., where she graduated from high school.

She completed a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at Trinity College, summa cum laude, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Howe-McNeil completed a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut. She came to Oklahoma City in 1990 to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology at the OU Health Science Center.

She had private psychology practices in both Oklahoma City and Norman, then became employed at both the Lawton Outpatient VA Clinic and also the Oklahoma City VAMC, where she loved serving veterans. Dr. Howe-McNeil was a long-standing member of the American Psychological Association and Oklahoma Psychological Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dr. Howe is survived by her husband, Thomas McNeil, M.D.; her daughter, Anna McNeil; her brother, Mark Howe and his wife Melissa; her niece and nephews, Sara and Daniel Howe and Michael Balazinski; in-laws, Dr. and Mrs. John McNeil; and many friends.

A burial with holy communion for Dr. Howe will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 235 W. Duffy St. in Norman. Memorials may be made in memory of Dr. Allison C. Arrangements for Dr. Howe and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
