NORMAN — Donald Max Ferguson departed this life Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the age of 96 years. He was born March 5, 1917, in Snyder to Talton and Susan (Brock) Ferguson who, in 1901, drew 160 acres of land near Frederick, Tillman County. This land was a part of the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache Surplus Lands.

Don worked in the shipyards in Portland, Ore. during World War II, where he learned his welding trade skill. He worked for Paul’s Welding from 1952 to 1965 as an oil field welder and finished his working career with Western Electric in Oklahoma City.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Allie Elizabeth (Willis); his parents; two sisters, Jewel Hargrove and Maudie Rowe; and six brothers, Ruel, Lawrence, Carl, Bill, Silas and Emory.

He is survived by three children, Donna Hull of Yukon, Jerry and wife Celinda of Oklahoma City and Joe of Oklahoma City; and his dearest friend, Louise Van De Mark.

He is also survived by three sisters-in-laws; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore, under their direction, with his nephew, Rev. Bob Willis officiating.
