NORMAN — Barbara Jean Morris, 83, died March 13, 2013, in Norman. Barbara was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Oklahoma City, to Ray and Eunice (Hankins) Boyter.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance, officiated by Rev. Terry Clayton. Interment will be at Gotebo Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Barbara grew up in Oklahoma City and spent two years at Hobart High where she was a drum majorette. She married Virgil Wayne Morris on June 24, 1949 in Frederick. After being a farmer’s wife and raising three sons, she received a B.S. from SWOSU and a Masters in Social Work from OU. She was a member of Mensa.

Barbara was a Child Welfare worker for DHS in Garvin County for 25 years. She assisted with many adoptions and was a mentor to many new MSWs. Barbara was also in the antiques and collectibles business.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sue Jones; and son, Mark Morris.

She is survived by her husband Virgil of 63 years; sons Rick Morris and wife Angie of Arlington, Texas; Neal Morris and wife Julie of Norman; sister Janice Barton and husband Winston of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren, Marla Morris and Jeff Morris, both of Norman.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma City.
