NORMAN — June Arlene Schimelpfening, 94, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, March 5, 2013, in Lewisville, Texas. She was born in Lexington to Lester and Ella Davis.

Services will be for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Noble United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.

June was married to Eddie Schimelpfening on June 11, 1984, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

She was a switchboard operator from the time she graduated from Lexington High School. Although she lived for several years in Connecticut, June returned to spend most of her life in Noble. She retired in 1983 from the Central State Hospital in Norman. June was also the secretary at the Noble United Methodist Church for many years, retiring from those responsibilities when she was 90 years old.

Among June’s hobbies were line dancing, researching family genealogy and traveling with Eddie in their camper across much of the United States.

June was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and several genealogical organizations. She attended her 75th high school reunion in 2010. Among their favorite places, June and Eddie loved to eat at Tiffany’s Restaurant and Kendall’s Restaurant, both in Noble. June was always a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, in spite of having many relatives living in Nebraska and Texas.

June, known by most of her family as Arlene, was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, and her brother, James.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Lois Davis; her aunt, Helen Higbee; nieces Barbara Goings of Omaha, Neb., and Rita Tremblay of Carrollton, Texas; many great nieces and nephews; and cousins Delores, Sharrie, Kenneth, Charles, Wayne, Johnnie Lee and Bonnie Jean.

We thank those who assisted with her care during the last few years, including Loving Care, Home Instead and the staffs at Arbor House in Norman and Lewisville, Texas.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service,
