Tillie Evelyn Sossamon

NORMAN — Tillie Evelyn Sossamon, 85, of Oklahoma City, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in Norman.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alameda Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

Mrs. Sossamon was born Aug. 4, 1926, to Lena and Amos Wyatt in Maysville. She was a graduate of the eighth grade. Mrs. Sossamon was a 30-year resident of Norman before moving to Oklahoma City in January 2004. She had been a jewelry technician for 20 years before her retirement in 2000.

She married Carl Sossamon on Nov. 17, 1951, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in November.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Melvin Wyatt, and a sister, Betty Sawyer.

She is survived by her husband, Carl of Moore; her daughter, Phyllis Johnson of Oklahoma City; her sons Ricky of Oklahoma City and Randy of Moore; two grandsons, Bradley Sossamon and John Johnson both of Oklahoma City; four great-grandchildren, Izick, Johnathon, Tre and Taylor Johnson; five sisters, Geraline Gray, Ruth Barnard and Carolyn Boydston, all of Norman, Deanie Boyd of Noble and Diana Boyd of Tuttle; and two brothers, Lynn Wyatt of Norman and Larry Wyatt of Bridgecreek.
