Jack P. Webb

NORMAN — Jack P. Webb, 68, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013. He was born March 25, 1945, to William and Martha Webb in Richmond, Calif.

He was married to Barbara L. Reynaud on Dec. 24, 1963, in Fresno, Calif., and they were married almost 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; three children, daughters Sheryl and husband Don Burnham and Rhonda and husband Gary Young and son, Scott and wife Paula Webb; one grandson, Nicholaus; four granddaughters, Kathryn Young, Shelby, Ashley and Elizabeth Webb; one great-granddaughter, Alaysha Wilson; and one great-grandson, Aydan Wilson. He is also survived by five sisters, Hazel, Ginger, Dorothy, Kathy and Lonnie; and two brothers, Rodney and Ken.

Jack was always a hard worker and from the age of 9 he was old enough to get a paper route. He would work on site before anyone hired him for his labor. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and after leaving the forces, he went to work at General Motors. The plant closed in Fremont, Calif., forcing him and his family to move to Norman to work in the Oklahoma City GM plant, where he met some of his best friends, whom he loved dearly. After working for GM for 31 years, he retired in 1999.

After retirement, he worked on some of his favorite hobbies, such as baseball with his son, bowling with friends, wood working with his father-in-law, fishing with family, golfing and much more. But his most favorite hobby was to pester the grandchildren. He would even go to school with his grandchildren to watch for their safety as a watch dog at Eisenhower Elementary. He later went to his dream retirement house at Lake Eufaula, which was his final destination in life. He was always around to put a smile on someone’s face, and when God called him, he needed him to put a smile on someone’s face in heaven.

Your family will miss your great humor, snowy white hair, big blue eyes and wide smile.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at East Robinson Baptist Church, 4150 E. Robinson St. in Norman.
