NORMAN — Grethal Deola Driskill, 92, a longtime resident of Norman, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born Dec. 29, 1920, to George and Esther Naill in Norman.
Deola graduated from Lexington High School in 1939, and retired from Bakers Shoes after 31 years of service, and again from Oklahoma Restaurant Supply after more than 20 years (at age 85) due to deteriorating vision.
She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she led opening Hymn for the Senior Adult Department for 45 years. She joined the Eastern Star in 1969, serving as Worthy Matron in 1979. She also served as District Deputy for two years and Grand Representative for two years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Oliver (Shorty) Naill.
She is survived by her son, Delmar Dean of Houston; three grandsons, Larry Dean and wife Shana of Humble, Texas, Michael Dean of Blanchard and Brian Dean and wife Keri of Plant City, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Eric Spain of Sugar Land, Texas with whom she lived, Nikki Raines, Ryan Dean, Tiffany McManus, Logan Dean, Gavin Dean and Malayna Dean; four great-great-grandchildren, Eliza Raines, Rylan Raines, Bentley Raines and Devin Stokesberry.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Norman IOOF Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service, primrosefuneralservice.com.
