Larry Lynn Ewing

NORMAN — Larry Lynn Ewing, 79, of Purcell, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, while in Phoenix.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Purcell. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.

Larry was born May 2, 1933, in Washington. He was the younger of two sons born to Sam Ewing and Wilma (Emerson) Ewing. Larry grew up in Purcell and graduated from Purcell High School with the class of 1951.

He then attended the University of Oklahoma and in 1954 he received his Bachelor of Science. After graduating from college, he served several years in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

Larry started his business career as a restaurateur that spanned from Dallas to Houston. He was married to Millie Tinsley and together they had two children, Analisa and Rick. After Millie passed away, Larry moved back to the Purcell area in 1973 and began working for the First American Bank.

In 1974, he married and became the husband to Charlene Brown and the father of her son, Charles. Larry worked nearly 20 years at the First American Bank and served as president for several years before he retired. For the past 20 years, he has owned his own real estate development business and insurance salvage business.

Larry was a faithful Christian and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. For more than 40 years, he taught men’s Sunday school, served as a deacon and had been on various committees. He was a longtime member and past president of the Purcell Rotary Club and was active in other various areas of the Purcell community. Throughout his life, he has enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife, Charlene.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene of the home in Purcell; three children, Rick Ewing of Oklahoma City, Charles Fretwell of Houston and Analisa Murray and husband Ryan of Maysville; a brother, Wyman Ewing and his wife Doris of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandchildren, Adam Fretwell and wife Stephanie of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Bryan Frewell of Venture, Calif., Chance Murray of Norman and Clay Murray of Maysville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

In memory of Larry, memorials may be made to the Purcell, First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.

Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
