NORMAN — Charles (Charlie) Melvin Jordan, 67, departed this life Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Clear Lake Regional Hospital. He was born to Glen and Dorothy (Cook) Jordan on May 29, 1945, in Royse City, Texas.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McMahans Funeral chapel. Rev. Paul Koonce will officiate. Interment will follow at Noble IOOF Cemetery
Mr. Jordan moved with his family as a child to Noble. He attended Noble High School and played basketball. He was an active member of the Noble FFA and had the position of the FFA treasurer. He specialized in showing sheep.
On Oct. 4, 1963, he and Marilyn Young were united in marriage in Norman. They moved to Texas in 1971 and made their home there until his death. He continued to be active in FFA with his three daughters and grandchildren in showing sheep. He also enjoyed helping other children with their FFA projects. He was a member of the Lamb Committee for the Galveston County Fair, a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the No. 100 Club of Houston, supported the Texas Club Lamb Association and was a life member of the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo.
Mr. Jordan was self-employed in the road construction business before his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Jordan.
Those who survive him include his mother, Dorothy Jordan of Noble; his wife, Marilyn of Friendswood, Texas; three daughters, Dana Hastedt and husband Randy of Rosharon, Texas, Jennifer Messimer and husband Keith of Winnsboro, Texas, and Calle Christeson and husband Cameron of Houston; two brothers, Larry Jordan of Eufaula and Keith Jordan and wife Lynn of Yukon; three grandchildren, Jordan Hastedt, Codi Jordan and Megan Lewis; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Services are arranged and directed by McMahans Funeral Home.
