NORMAN — Bill G. Tadlock, 86, of Norman, passed away March 6, 2013. Bill was born Oct. 24, 1926, to Bennett and Emma (Williams) Tadlock in Bokchito.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church, 211 E. Comanche St. in Norman, with interment at Norman IOOF Cemetery.
He left high school to serve his country in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He became a platoon leader in the United States Army and was on Okinawa when we bombed Japan and the war ended.
He returned to Norman, where he finished high school. Bill then met and married his wife, Jerry Anne Claxton, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years, raising two sons, Phillip and Mark.
He began his career in the retail grocery business and, after 37 years, retired in 1984. Bill spent quality time with his son, Mark, traveling the country and working on various jobs together. Bill could not sit still after retirement, so he took a job at the University of Oklahoma, where he worked for 10 years in the microbiology lab.
On Aug. 28, 2005, in Norman, Bill remarried Beverly Spears. Bill twice served as the Sooner Lion’s Club president and was instrumental in the success of the concessions at the OU football games. Bill loved spending time with his family. Bill was known as being kind and nice to everyone he came in contact with. Even during his illness, Bill’s family remembers him never complaining.
