NORMAN — Joyce Eddington, 78, passed away at her home in Norman on Thursday, September 2, 2010. She was born on May 20, 1932, in Willis, OK, to Fred and Ruth Henson Bates. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; daughters, Kay Taber of Norman and Vicki Buckley (Michael) of Tallahassee, FL; son, Greg Eddington (Christine) of Oklahoma City; grandsons, Colin Buckley and Quinton Buckley of Tallahassee, FL; Zachary Eddington of Washington, D.C.; and Timothy Eddington of Oklahoma City; brother, Sam Bates of Cheyenne, WY; sisters, Pat Phillips of Dallas, TX, and Carolyn Waddell, Aubrey, TX.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who greatly enjoyed all family activities, preparing Sunday dinners, gardening, music, brisk walks and her volunteer work at Norman Regional Hospital. For 54 years, she was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday School classes and sang in the senior choir. She was a kind, generous, beautiful woman who will be missed more than words can convey.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Norman, Oklahoma. Ken Huddleston will officiate the services. Music arranged by Margaret Finley and Sarah Watts. Interment will be at 3:00 pm at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Oklahoma. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
Visitation will be Monday, September 6, from 1 to 9 pm at Watts Funeral Home in Madill.
