Martha Lou Parker Williams

NORMAN — Martha Lou Parker Williams went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Norman Regional Hospital after fighting an eight and a half year battle with cancer. Her beloved parents were Hughbert and Ruby Parker. Martha entered this life on June 5, 1931, in Oklahoma City.

Martha was united in marriage with the love of her life, J.D. Williams, on Aug. 23, 1947. God gave them two daughters, Kathy and Debbie.

Her entire life, Martha was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She was later a pastor’s wife and an artist in her own right. She was a faithful member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend J.D Williams of 58 years; her parents; sisters, Norma Williams and Donna Cartwright; and brother, Robert Parker; as well as many other family members. She also lost her son-in-law, Steve D. Curry, in the bombing of the Oklahoma City Murrah Building.

She is survived by daughters, Kathy Curry and Debbie Meyer and her husband Stan. She adored her grandchildren, Matt Meyer and wife Candice, Jenni Scruggs and husband Danny, Josh Meyer and wife Jessica and Jay Curry and wife Megan; seven great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Jacob, Jack Meyer, Seth and Grace Scruggs, Lillie and Steven Curry; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom, our special gift in life is having you as our mother. We are so glad that God in His infinite wisdom allowed us to belong to you — to be your children and your friends. More than anything, we are so thankful to have been given the honor to love you and call you our mother. You and Daddy were our greatest inspiration and we are thrilled that you are together again in heaven … until we meet again, Kathy and Debbie

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, 3730 N. Porter, Norman.

Martha and her family were placed in the care of the Vice Family, Havenbrook Funeral Home, in Norman. Online condolences may be shared on havenbrookfuneralhome
