Gary Allan May

NORMAN — Gary Allan May, 63, of Fishers, Ind., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, following several years of illness. He was born April 7, 1950, in Bedford, Ind., to the late Hoss and Mildred May.

Gary was a 1968 recipient of the Storer Scholarship and graduate of Muncie Central High School, Muncie, Ind. Gary proudly played varsity basketball for the Bearcats for 3 years and was a lifelong Bearcat fan.

Gary graduated with a B. S. in industrial management from the Kranert School of Business, Purdue University, in 1972. Gary worked in the human resources department at G.M. from 1972-1978 in Warren, Ohio, and in Oklahoma City from 1978 to 1982. He also worked at Devon Energy Corporation in Oklahoma City from 1982 to 1995 and Brooks Foods in Mt. Comfort, Ind., until 1996. Gary got his real estate license in 1996 and worked for A.H.M. Graves in Carmel, Ind., from 1996 to 1997 and Aimco Property Management Co. from 1997 to 2003 in Indianapolis.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Kathy J. May, formerly of Norman; daughter, Jennifer Merritt (Brian Jaynes) of Indianapolis; son, Jason Merritt and grandson, D.J. Merritt both of Norman; sisters, Mary Nepote (Matt) of Richmond, Ind. and Teri Stanley (Brad) of Indian Rock Beach, Fla.; his lifelong friend and honorary brother, Bill Bowman of Troy, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road with funeral services to begin at 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, or to St. Vincent Hospice, 421 N. Emerson Avenue, Greenwood, IN 46143.
